World Series of Fighting will be heading to Kansas City for its next event on October 7.
The promotion announced today its upcoming event WSOF 33 which will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Justin Gaethje and challenger Ozzy Dugulubgov. The co-main event features a matchup between Luiz Firmino and Brian Foster. The fights will take place at the Kansas City Memorial Auditorium and will air live on NBCSN.
Gaethje (16-0) captured the WSOF lightweight title back in January of 2014 and has defended his belt four times since. In September, Gaethje faced Luis Palomino in a rematch and won the bout with a TKO in the second round. Most recently, he stopped Brian Foster in just under two minutes with leg kicks at WSOF 29 in March. Dugulubgov (8-2), on the other hand, is currently on a three-fight win streak and has suffered only one loss since 2011. His latest victory is a unanimous decision over Nic Herron-Webb which took place in December.
Firmino (19-6) has won six fights straight which includes wins over UFC veterans Jacob Volkmann and Tyson Griffin. In January, he squared off against Caros Fodor in the main event of WSOF 27 and won the three-round bout via unanimous decision. Foster (25-9) scored back-to-back TKO victories over Luis Palomino and Joáo Zeferino to earn himself a shot at the lightweight title against Gaethje, but lost the fight via leg kicks in the first round.
