Bellator 165 has two new bouts, according to a report released by the promotion on Tuesday.
Linton Vassell and Francis Carmont will be squaring off in a light-heavyweight bout which was originally scheduled to take place at Bellator 158 but an injury forced Vassell off the card. In addition, lightweights Adam Piccolotti will face Brandon Girtz. Both bouts are set to take place on the main card.
Vassell (16-5, 1 NC) last fought in February at Bellator 149 where he won a unanimous decision against Emmanuel Newton, avenging his 2014 loss to the former light-heavyweight champion. Prior to that he went 1-1, losing a decision to “King Mo” and scoring a second-round TKO over Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. His opponent, Carmont (25-11) has gone 3-1 since moving to Bellator with his latest victory being a first-round submission over Łukasz Klinger in the summer.
Piccolotti (8-0) is coming off of a first-round rear-naked choke win over Ray Wood at Bellator 154, extending his record in the promotion to 4-0 with three wins by submission. The 28-year old prospect was signed by the promotion in 2015 after amassing a 4-0 record with three finishes. Also on a win streak is Girtz (14-4) who last fought at Bellator 146 where he knocked out Derek Campos in just 37 seconds. His current three fight win streak also include wins over Melvin Guillard and Benny Madrid.
Bellator 165 will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Michael Chandler and challenger Benson Henderson. The event is set to take place on November 19 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
