“The California Kid” will be squaring off against Brad Pickett at UFC on FOX 22 in his hometown of Sacramento.
The matchup was announced by the UFC on Tuesday evening.
UFC on FOX 22 will be headlined by Paige VanZant, a protégé of Faber, against fellow straw-weight and former Invicta atomweight champion Michelle Waterson. The event is set to take place at the Golden 1 Center on December 17. Other bouts that have been confirmed for the card are Sage Northcutt vs Mickey Gall, Alan Jouban vs Mike Perry, and Bryan Barberena vs Colby Covington.
Faber (33-10) is1-3 in his last four bouts. He is coming off of a loss to a rising prospect Jimmie Rivera, who extended his pro record to 20-1 with the victory. Prior to that, the 37-year-old suffered a unanimous decision loss to long-time rival Dominick Cruz in their rubber match at UFC 199.
Pickett (25-12) finds himself at a rough patch in his career having gone 1-4 in his last five bouts. His last bout took place just weeks ago at UFC 204 where he was submitted in 2 minutes by Iuri Alcantara. Prior to that, he won a split-decision over Francisco Rivera at UFC Fight Night 84, which was also held in his home-country of England.
