UFC adds Jouban vs Perry, Barberena vs Covington to UFC on FOX 22

Two welterweight bouts have been added to UFC on FOX 22.

The event is set to take place at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California on December 17 and will be headlined by a straw-weight fight between Paige VanZant and Michelle Waterson. The card will also feature a welterweight fight between rising, young prospects Mickey Gall and Sage Northcutt.

Following his third-round knockout win over Danny Roberts at UFC 204, Perry (9-0) will be making another quick turnaround to face Jouban (14-4) in December. He made his debut at UFC 202 against Hyun Gyu Lim where he won via knockout in the first round, making him 2-0 in the promotion with two stoppages. Jouban, meanwhile, is coming off of back-to-back victories, the most recent being a Fight of the Night unanimous decision over Belal Muhammad at UFC Fight Night 90. Prior to that, he stopped Brandon O’Reilly with elbows and punches in the first round of their bout in March.

Covington (10-1) has gotten himself back in the win column with stoppages over Jonathan Meunier and max Griffin since suffering his first pro loss to Warlley Alves last year in December. The Oregon State wrestling standout is now 5-1 in the UFC which includes a decision win over Mike Pyle. After a short 1-1 stint at lightweight, Barberena (12-3) moved back up to 170 pounds where he scored two impressive upset victories over Sage Northcutt and Warlley Alves.
