Amanda Cooper and Cynthia Calvillo met in a straw-weight bout in the second fight on the main card of UFC 209. Calvillo won the bout with a rear-naked choke in the first round.

The opening round began with Cooper pressing forward with her boxing while Calvillo remained patient on the outside. Midway through the round, Calvillo scored a double-leg takedown but didn’t manage hold Cooper down, who was able to get up and land a takedown herself, which was then reversed by Calvillo. Calvillo then locked up an anaconda choke which she used to transition to back mount before sinking in a rear-naked choke at 3:19 into the round.

“I’ve been working for his opportunity for a very long time,” said Calvillo, whose bout was elevated to the main card after the Ferguson-Nurmagomedov matchup was called off. “I was ready,” she continued.
