UFC 202 Results: Mike Perry knocks out Hyun Gyu Lim in opening round

UFC newcomer Mike Perry squared off against veteran Hyun Gyu Lim on the main card of UFC 202. Perry won the bout with a knockout in the first round.

Perry was aggressive early on and landed several leg kicks early on while Lim was patient in establishing his range. Lim began pressuring forward as Perry attempted to close the distance with overhand rights, eventually landing one and scoring a knockdown. The newcomer quickly advanced from side control to a mounted crucifix where he continued his ground and pound. Lim worked his way back up to the feet but ate a hard left hook from Perry and was knocked down once again. After the fight was nearly called off for a second time, Lim got back up and was knocked down a third time before “Big” John McCarthy had seen enough.

“I know I caused a lot of issues last night, but I'm not here to make friends. I did what I came to do,” said “Platinum” Mike Perry after his successful debut. "I reached back too far. I gotta clean that up a bit, but whatever works. My left hook looks good. Mike Tyson in the house, what's up, man?"
