UFC 200 Results: Brock Lesnar makes successful return against Mark Hunt

WWE superstar and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made his highly anticipated return to MMA against #8 ranked Mark Hunt in the co-main event of UFC 200. Lesnar won the bout via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-27).

The fight began with Lesnar light on his feet and cautious on the outside as he was walked down by the 2001 K-1 Grand Prix winner, who appeared calm and calculated. Both men were clearly aware of each other’s power and the first strike thrown was a leg kick by Brock. Shortly after, Lesnar shot in for a double leg takedown managing to get Hunt to the ground for a few brief seconds before Hunt was able to get to his feet. Lesnar followed up with another takedown but this time he landed into side control. Hunt eventually made his way out from beneath but had his back taken by Lesnar who ended the round with some hard ground and pound.

The second round took place largely on the feet but was less eventful. Hunt stuffed all of Lesnar’s takedown attempts but wasn’t able to find a home for his overhand right.

In the third round, Lesnar initiated a clinch and dragged Hunt to the ground into full mount and proceeded to land consistent, heavy punches from the top position until the end of the fight. Hunt was unable to get up but survived the 10-8 round.

At the end of the fight, Lesnar was thrilled to have finally made a successful return to MMA. “It took me a while to get acclimated. Words can’t describe it, thank you so much.”
