Tony Martin injured, UFC in search of opponent to face Michel Prazeres

Another UFC on FOX 20 matchup has fallen apart as a result of injuries.

Tony Martin, who was expected to face Michel Prazeres in a couple weeks, was forced out of his upcoming bout with a neck injury according to a report by MMAJunkie. No replacement opponent has been announced to fill in Martin’s place but the Prazeres is still expected to remain on the card.

Martin (10-3) was signed by the UFC in 2013 as an undefeated 8-0 prospect. He was coming off of a submission win over Felipe Oliveiri giving him a 2-3 UFC record. On the other hand, Prazeres (19-2) is 3-1 in his past four bouts with his only loss coming at the hands of Kevin Lee. His most recent fight is a split decision victory over Valmir Lázaro at The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2 finale last November.

UFC on FOX 20 is scheduled to take place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on July 23 and will be headlined by a women’s bantamweight bout between Holly Holm and Valentina Shevchenko. The comain event features a lightweight bout between Gilbert Melendez and Edson Barboza.
