Tecia Torres vs. Rose Namajunas II in talks for UFC on FOX 19

A strawweight bout between Tecia Torres and Rose Namajunas is in negotiation for UFC on FOX 19, according to sources close to the UFC that spoke with MMAFighting.

Torres and Namajunas first fought in 2013 at Invicta FC 3 where Torres won via unanimous decision. Three years later, the two may face off again in a possible #1 contender fight in the UFC.

Torres (7-0) has not lost in her professional MMA career and has won all 7 of her fights via unanimous decision. She appeared on The Ultimate Fighter 20 on Team Melendez but lost her first fight to Randa Markos. She was brought back on the show on Team Pettis as a replacement for Justine Kish who suffered a knee injury. Most recently, she won a unanimous decision over Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger at UFC 194.

Rose Namajunas (4-2) made it to the finals of The Ultimate Fighter 20 before losing to Carla Esparza in a fight that would crown the first women’s strawweight champion in the UFC. Namajunas went on to beat Angela Hill via technical submission at UFC 192 in October. Her last fight, and possibly the most impressive performance of her career, was a submission win over Paige VanZant in the 5th round. Namajunas entered the bout as an underdog against the popular VanZant and dominated the fight from the opening bell of the first round.

UFC on FOX 19 takes place Tampa, Florida on April 16.
