Sergio Pettis vs Chris Kelades scheduled for UFC 197

A flyweight bout between Sergio Pettis and Chris Kelades is expected to take place at UFC 197 in Las Vegas, as per


Pettis (13-2) has gone 4-2 since entering the UFC as a promising 20-year old prospect in 2013. Pettis faced Will Campuzano in his debut at bantamweight and won via unanimous decision. In his next fight, he suffered his first professional loss to Alex Caceres in a Fight of the Night performance. Pettis racked up another two wins before losing via TKO to Ryan Benoit in a fight that Pettis had dominated up until the last round. Most recently, Pettis beat flyweight title challenger Chris Cariaso via unanimous decision.


Anthony Pettis, Sergio’s older brother and former UFC lightweight champion will be fighting on the same card.


Former Bellator fighter Kelades (9-2) made his UFC debut on one week’s notice against Paddy Holohan as a heavy underdog. Kelades won via unanimous decision and earned a Fight of the Night bonus, as well. He has gone 1-1 in the UFC after that fight, losing via submission to Ray Borg and beating Chris Beal via split decision.


UFC 197 will be headlined by a light-heavyweight title fight between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones. The event takes place on April 23 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
