Ronda Rousey won’t be returning to the Octagon anytime soon. Fresh off of her 14 second victory at UFC 184, Rousey will be taking some time off to star in Mile 22, a political action thriller costarring Iko Uwais. The film centers around a CIA field officer joining forces with an Indonesian police officer to battle corruption turned violent.
Though there’s no official timeline set for the champ’s return, we expect to see her again later in 2015. In the meantime, UFC officials will be seeking a suitable challenger for the seemingly unstoppable Rousey. Yesterday, Cris Cyborg Justino took to twitter to push for a fight. Justino is fresh off of her own victory at Friday night’s Invicta FC 11, defeating Charmaine Tweet and defending the featherweight belt. She asked Rousey if she needed Lorenzo Fertitta’s phone number to get the fight booked.
UFC president Dana White has already batted down the idea of a catchweight fight between the two champs. Rousey has similarly declined, stating that she will only fight Justino at 135. A fight between the two seemed to be in the works last year but Justino was injured during training for her first 135 lb. fight and stated she has no interest in attempting to make that weight again. Despite how much fans want it, it seems unlikely that the superfight will happen anytime soon.
