The UFC’s biggest star is finally set for her return.
UFC president Dana White appeared on Colin Cowherd’s “The Herd” on Wednesday afternoon where he announced that Ronda Rousey will be facing bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in the main event of UFC 207.
“The thing that everybody has been waiting for, for a good year: Ronda Rousey is back,” White announced. “She will fight December 30 for the title… in Vegas, against Amanda Nunes.”
After her upset loss to Holly Holm in November 2015, Rousey (12-1) chose to take some time off from the sport to pursue other endeavors, leaving fans questioning her desire to continue fighting and the psychological impact of suffering her first career loss. Prior to losing her title, Rousey was undefeated in her 12-fight career where she finished all but one of her opponents in the first round. Her most recent victory is her 34-second knockout of Bethe Correia at UFC 190 in August last year.
Nunes (13-4) is coming off of her first-round rear-naked choke victory over now-former champion Miesha Tate in the main event of UFC 200 to win the title. She earned her shot at the belt by winning three straight against Shayna Baszler, Sarah McMann, and Valentina Shevchenko.
UFC 207 takes place on December 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
