Oluwale Bamgbose accepts short notice bout against Ferreira at UFC Tampa

Caio Magalhaes has been forced out of his UFC on FOX 19 bout against Cezar Ferreira citing an ankle injury and will be replaced by Oluwale Bamgbose.

The UFC on FOX 19 card, which was expected to be headlined by a lightweight bout between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov, has undergone several changes including the withdrawal of Tony Ferguson, resulting in a rearrangement of the main event. A light-heavyweight bout between Rashad Evans and Glover Teixeira was elevated to the main event while Nurmagomedov will take on Darrell Horcher in a catchweight bout at 160 pounds.

With only a week left until the fight, Oluwale Bamgbose (6-1) has agreed to take on ‘Mutante’ in a middleweight bout. ‘The Holy War Angel’ entered the UFC as an undefeated 5-0 prospect with all of his wins coming by way of knockout. He came up short in his debut against Uriah Hall, losing by TKO in the first round. He cemented his spot on the UFC roster a few months later by scoring a headkick knockout over Daniel Sarafian at UFC Fight Night 83.

Ferreira (8-5) most recently made an unsuccessful drop to welterweight when he faced Jorge Masvidal at the The Ultimate Fighter: American Top Team vs. Blackzilians finale, losing via knockout in the first round. ‘Mutante’ won The Ultimate Fighter back in 2012 when he beat Sergio Moraes via unanimous decision.

UFC on FOX 19 will take place on April 16 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
