Michael Chandler will defend his title against Benson Henderson in the main event of Bellator 163, the promotion announced Wednesday.
Henderson (24-6) recently faced Patrício Freire in a lightweight #1 contender bout at Bellator 160 and won the fight after Freire suffered a broken fibula in the second round. The former UFC lightweight champion signed with Bellator in February after winning a split-decision over Jorge Masvidal in November. In his debut, he was awarded a welterweight title shot against champion Andrey Koreshkov but suffered a lopsided unanimous decision loss.
Chandler (15-3) is coming off of a brutal knockout win against Patricky Freire at Bellator 157 where he won the vacant lightweight title. The lightweight champion is now on a three-fight finish streak after having suffered three straight losses between 2013 and 2014.
Bellator 163 is set to take place at the SAP Center in San Jose, California on November 19. In addition to the headlining lightweight title fight, the card will feature a welterweight bout between Michael Page and Fernando Gonzalez.
