An intriguing matchup between top featherweight contenders Max Holloway and Anthony Pettis has been added to UFC 206 in Toronto.
#6 ranked Anthony Pettis (19-5) is coming off of a third-round guillotine win over Charles Oliveira at UFC on FOX 21 in August. The bout was the former 155-lb champion’s featherweight debut which came after he suffered a three-fight losing streak. The losses were decisions to Edson Barboza, Eddie Alvarez, and Rafael Dos Anjos.
Holloway (16-3) is ranked third in the division and is currently on a nine-fight win streak which consists of six finishes and three decisions. His most recent win was a unanimous decision over Ricardo Lamas at UFC 199 in June which was preceded by wins over Jeremy Stephens, Charles Oliveira, and Cub Swanson. He hasn’t loss since his 2013 bout against current 145-lb champion Conor McGregor.
UFC 206 will take place at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on December 10. The event will be headlined by a light-heavyweight title fight between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson. Other recently announced bouts include Mitch Gagnon vs Matthew Lopez and Valerie Letourneau vs Viviane Pereira.
Also, middleweight champion Michael Bisping is pushing for a bout against UFC legend Georges St. Pierre, who responded with a video on social media saying that the bout is unlikely but things may hopefully change.
