Matt Mitrione’s Bellator debut set for June 24

After a 14-fight run in the UFC, Matt Mitrione has been scheduled for his first bout in Bellator.

His debut is scheduled against MMA veteran Carl Seumanutafa at Bellator 157: Dynamite 2 in a heavyweight fight. The card will be headlined by the return of ‘Rampage’ Jackson against Olympic gold-medalist Satoshi Ishii.

Mitrione (9-5) went into free agency last January after suffering a controversial TKO loss to Travis Browne in the last fight of his UFC contract. Mitrione, who is currently working on an appeal to overturn the loss, decided not to renew his contract and headed for Bellator instead. Prior to his back-to-back losses, Mitrione was on a three-fight win streak—all of which came by first-round knockout.

Seumanutafa (10-6), who is a part of the San Francisco ‘Skrap Pack’, made a successful promotional debut in January at Bellator 148 when he knocked out Javy Ayala. Before entering Bellator, ‘Badwater’ went 2-2 in his past four fights in smaller promotions like KOTC and CFFC.

Bellator 157: Dynamite 2 takes place on June 24 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Missouri.
