Matt Brown vs Jake Ellenberger added to UFC 201 lineup

A welterweight matchup between Matt Brown and Jake Ellenberger is the latest addition to UFC 201, as announced by the UFC on Thursday. The event, headlined by a welterweight title fight between champion Robbie Lawler and challenger Tyron Woodley, will be held at the Phillips Center in Atlanta, Georgia on July 30.

Brown (20-14) is making a quick turnaround after suffering a third-round submission loss to Damian Maia at UFC 198 in Brazil earlier this month. He has gone 1-3 in his past four bouts which includes losses to former champion Johny Hendricks and current champion Robbie Lawler. His loss to Lawler, in what was a welterweight #1 contender bout, snapped a seven-fight win streak that lasted between 2012 and 2014 and consisted of six knockouts.

Jake Ellenberger (30-11) finds himself at a rough patch in his career after going 1-5 in his past six bouts. Most recently, he faced Tarec Saffiedine at UFC on FOX 18 in January and lost a unanimous decision. His last win was a second-round submission over Josh Koscheck at UFC 184 which snapped his three-fight losing streak and won him a post-fight bonus.

UFC 201 also features a flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and Wilson Reis in the co-main event. The winner of this bout will face the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 24.
