Marcos Galvao sick, bout with Dantas scrapped

Eduardo Dantas was expected to face current Bellator bantamweight champion Marcos Galvao tomorrow night at Bellator 150 until Galvao fell ill and was forced to pull out of the fight.

The scheduled fight between Dantas and Galvao was supposed to a rematch of a fight that happened in 2013 at Bellator 89. In their first bout, Dantas, who was champion at the time, won via second-round knockout to defend his title. He went on to defend the belt once more before losing it to Joe Warren. Galvao managed to compile a 3-fight win streak after that loss which won him a shot at Warren, who he beat via second-round kneebar.

The rematch was expected to occur in October but Dantas suffered a broken rib. In this attempt to arrange a rematch, Galvao became sick prior to weigh-ins and was advised by physicians to pull out of the fight resulting in the bout being entirely scrapped from the card. Dantas, however, made the weight and was paid his show money.

Chieck Kongo vs Vinicius Queiroz, which was originally slated to be the co-main event of Bellator 150, has been moved up to the main event slot.

Bellator 150 takes place tomorrow night in Mulvane, Kansas.
