Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson have verbally agreed to a middleweight bout in April, according to sources that spoke to MMAFIghting.
Machida (22-7) made his middleweight debut in 2013 where he knocked out Mark Munoz via first-round headkick. He has gone 3-3 at 185 pounds including a title fight which he lost to then-champion Chris Weidman in a Fight of the Year contender. He bounced back from the loss with a 62 second TKO victory over CB Dolloway in Brazil. Most recently, however, he dropped two bouts-- one to Luke Rockhold, the other to Yoel Romero.
Dan Henderson (31-14) has won 2 of his last 5 bouts. After his loss to Daniel Cormier at UFC 173, Henderson has dropped down to middleweight where he has gone 1-2. Last June, the former PRIDE middleweight champion shocked fans with a 28-second knockout victory over Tim Boetsch. His latest fight was a knockout loss to Vitor Belfort in Brazil.
Henderson and Machida fought each other back in 2013 at UFC 157 in a light-heavyweight bout where Machida won a close split-decision.
UFC on FOX 19 will take place on April 16 in Tampa, Florida.
