Luke Sanders Replaces Dennis Bermudez, Faces Maximo Blanco at UFC Fight Night 81

Undefeated Luke Sanders will step up, as a replacement for Dennis Bermudez, to fight Maximo Blanco in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 81.

Maximo Blanco was originally scheduled to face Dennis Bermudez before news broke that Bermudez suffered a staph infection, forcing him to pull out of the bout. Blanco was left without an opponent for about a month.

Luke Sanders (10-0) is the bantamweight champion in the RFA but will move up to featherweight to make his UFC debut. Sanders is a Strikeforce and XFC veteran who has finished 7 of his 10 opponents. His most recent fight is a unanimous decision victory over Terrion Ware in a 5-round ‘RFA vs Legacy Superfight’.

Maximo Blanco (12-6-1, 1 NC) is riding a 3-fight win streak. His latest victory was a 16-second TKO over Mike De La Torre, in a fight that many think was stopped too early.

UFC FIght Night 81 takes place on Jan. 17 in Boston, Massachusetts and is headlined by a bantamweight title fight between current champion TJ Dillashaw and former champion Dominick Cruz.
