Kron Gracie will be making his return to MMA at RIZIN FF’s next event.
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt’s third fight will be against 16-year MMA veteran Hideo Tokoro in a featherweight bout in late Septmeber, the promotion announced Saturday. The event, which will be held at the Saitama Super Arena, will also feature an openweight tournament, which the bout will not be a part of.
Kron Gracie (2-0) was victorious in his second outing at RIZIN FF’s New Year’s Eve event where he submitted Asen Yamamoto with a triangle choke at 4:58 of the first round. The 27-year old made his MMA debut in 2014 at Real Fighting Championship in Tokyo against Hyung Soo-Kim and won the bout fairly quickly with an armbar just over a minute into the opening round. Gracie, son of the legendary Rickson Gracie, has won multiple BJJ world championships before making the transition to MMA including a gold medal at the 2013 ADCC in Beijing.
Hideo Tokoro (33-28-2), who turned pro back in 2000, is a veteran of sixty-three MMA fights and has competed in a variety of different promotions, mostly ones based in Japan. Included in his professional record are two bouts against members of the Gracie family—a decision win over Royler Gracie in 2006 and a draw against Royce Gracie in 2005. Tokoro’s most recent bout is a first-round submission win over Kizaemon Siaga in December of last year.
So far, RIZIN FF has not released any other details about their upcoming September event but do plan on holding a press conference soon to announce an official date.
