Kevin Lee replaces Stevie Ray, faces Jake Matthews at TUF 23 Finale

Stevie Ray was forced out of his TUF 23 Finale bout against Jake Matthews which was scheduled to take place in July. The UFC announced this morning that Kevin Lee has stepped up to replace the injured Ray just over a month away from the bout.

Kevin Lee (12-2) has only suffered two losses in the UFC since signing with the promotion in 2013, only a year after making his professional debut. The 23-year old racked up a four-fight win streak between 2014 and 2015 which includes wins over the likes of Jon Tuck and James Moontasri. Last December, his win streak was snapped when he faced Leonardo Santos at UFC 194 and suffered a first-round TKO loss. He managed to get himself back to his winning ways scoring a unanimous decision victory over MMA veteran Efrain Escudero.

Also a young, rising star is Jake Matthews (10-1) who is coming off of back-to-back finishes over Akbarh Arreola and Johnny Case. The 21-year old has finished his opponent in all but one of his ten professional wins.

The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale will take place on July 8 as a part of International Fight Week at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The card will be headlined by a straw-weight title fight between TUF 23 coaches Joanna Jędrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha in a rematch of a fight that took place in 2014.
