The Karate Hottie Meets Tecia Torres

UFC 194 just got another premiere booking, this time in the women’s strawweight division as Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson (13-4) steps back into the Octagon to face fellow contender Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres (6-0). Fresh off of a three dominant three round performance that culminated in a rear naked choke over TUF 20’s Angela Magana back in July, Waterson looks to quickly return to action and face another standout from the season in Tecia Torres.

Though Torres lost two exhibition bouts in that season, one to Randa Markos and one to Carla Esparza, she remains undefeated as both a pro and an amateur. Torres, a former Invicta staple, has wins over some of the best in division including Felice Herring and TUF 20 finalist Rose Namajunas. She’s also the only fighter to defeat rising strawweight star Paige VanZant.

Waterson’s resume is similarly solid. The former Invicta FC atomweight champ dropped the belt to Herica Tiburcio in December of last year and moved to the UFC shortly after. Waterson helped build Invicta in its early days and captured the atomweight strap from Jessica Penne in her second appearance in the promotion. Both fighters are looking to score a big win to push them one step closer to challenging the winner of Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha’s title fight later this year.
