John Dodson will return to bantamweight against Manny Gamburyan in April

John Dodson announced on Twitter last night that he will make his return to bantamweight against Manny Gamburyan in April at UFC on FOX 19.


Dodson (17-7) last fought at bantamweight when he knocked out TJ Dillashaw to win The Ultimate Fighter 14, who went on to become the UFC bantamweight champion three years later. ‘The Magician’ managed to compile a 5-2 record as a flyweight in the UFC with both losses coming at the hands of current flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson in title fights.


Gamburyan (15-8, 1 NC) started his professional MMA career back in 1999 where he amassed a 6-1 record before competing on TUF. The 34-year old has spent the significant part of his career in the WEC and UFC where he competed at lightweight, featherweight, and bantamweight. He is 2-1 in his last 3 fights with his latest victory being a unanimous decision over Scott Jorgenson.


UFC on FOX 19 will take place in Tampa, Florida on April 16. The card will  be headlined by a #1 contender bout at lightweight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson.
