Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha announced as coaches for TUF 23

UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and rival Claudia Gadelha will coach against each other in the next season of The Ultimate Fighter.

The UFC announced last night, during the UFC Fight Night 81 broadcast, that the show will premiere on April 20 on Fox Sports 1. This season will feature fighters from both the strawweight and the light-heavyweight division, with only one fighter from each weight class emerging as the tournament winner.

The Ultimate Fighter 23 finale will take place on July 8 in Las Vegas, the day before UFC 200. In the main event, Claudia Gadelha (13-1) will challenge Jedrzejczyk (11-0) for the strawweight title in a rematch of a very close fight. The pair fought in December 2014 in a #1 contender fight which resulted in a razor-thin split decision for the current champion.

After her victory over Gadelha, Jedrzejczyk went on to win the title by beating Carla Esparza by TKO in the second round, earning herself an extra $50K in the process. After that, she beat Jessica Pene in a Fight of the Night performance. Most recently, she successfully defended her title against Valérie Létourneau at UFC 193.

Gadelha beat Jessica Aguilar at UFC 190, which earned her a rematch against the champion. A finger injury forced her to pull out of the bout, however.

TUF 23 Finale takes place on July 8 in Las Vegas.
