Gunnar Nelson set to face Albert Tumenov at UFN 87

A welterweight bout between rising prospects Gunnar Nelson and Albert Tumenov is expected to take place at UFC Rotterdam on May 8, as per


Gunnar Nelson (14-2-1) has been impressive thus far in his UFC career, going 5-2 with four of his victories coming by way of submission. The Renzo Gracie black belt beat Brandon Thatch at UFC 189 after scoring a knockdown followed by a quick transition to the back mount before finishing the fight with a rear-naked-choke. In his last fight, however, he lost via unanimous decision to Demian Maia.


Tumenov’s (17-2) only loss in the UFC came in his debut when he dropped a split-decision to Ildemar Alcantara. Since then, he has strung together a five-fight win streak which includes head-kick knockouts over Matt Dwyer and Alan Jouban. The 24-year old most recently beat Lorenz Larkin via split-decision in a closely contested bout at UFC 195.


UFC Fight Night 87 takes place in Rotterdam, Netherlands on May 8. The card will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between top contenders Alistair Overeem and Andrei Arlovski.
