Fabricio Werdum vs Ben Rothwell targeted for UFC 211

A bout between top heavyweight contenders Fabricio Werdum and Ben Rothwell is in the process of being added to UFC 211.

While the bout hasn’t been officially announced by the UFC, reports from multiple sources have revealed the news.

The fight is expected to join the heavyweight title fight between champion Stipe Miocic and challenger Junior dos Santos as the co-main event on May 13. The event will take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Werdum (21-6-1) last fought at UFC 203 in September where he won a rematch against Travis Browne by unanimous decision. The fight was his first since losing his title to Miocic by first-round knockout at UFC 198 last May. The loss broke his six-fight win streak which included four stoppage wins.

Rothwell (36-10) also had a win streak snapped when he lost a decision to dos Santos last April after stringing together four straight finishes. The streak included submissions of Matt Mitrione and Josh Barnett as well as knockouts over Alistair Overeem and Brandon Vera.
