Former WEC Bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland is scheduled to make a return to competition against #14 ranked Frankie Saenz.
Wineland (21-11-1) has been inactive since his last bout in July 2015 when he dropped a unanimous decision to Bryan Caraway at UFC on FOX 16. Wineland entered that fight following a year-long hiatus after his surprising knockout loss to Johnny Eduardo where he suffered a broken jaw. Prior to the back-to-back defeats, Wineland was 3-1 in his past four bouts, one of which was an interim title bout against Renan Barao, who he lost to via second-round knockout.
Frankie Saenz (11-3) entered the UFC in 2014 on a four-fight win streak and won a unanimous decision over Nolan Ticman in his debut. He won his next two bouts, improving his streak to seven straight wins before earning a shot at his first big-name opponent, Urijah Faber. He faced Faber at UFC 194 and lost via unanimous decision.
The bout will take place at bantamweight at UFC on FOX 20. The event will be held in Chicago, Illinois on July 23. A headliner for the card has not yet been announced.
