The first non-title fight at UFC 199 has been officially announced this morning.
Lightweights Dustin Poirier and Bobby Green are set to clash on June 4th at UFC 199 which takes place at The Forum in Los Angeles, California. The card will be headlined by a middleweight title fight in a rematch between current champion Luke Rockhold and former champion Chris Weidman. In the co-main event, Dominick Cruz will defend his bantamweight title against Urijah Faber in a rubber-match.
Poirier (19-4) has successfully rebounded from his loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 178 by winning three fights in a row. Poirier scored impressive first-round knockout victories over Carlos Diego Ferreira and Yancy Medeiros, winning Performance of the Night bonuses in both victories to get himself back in the win column. His latest win came over Joseph Duffy in January at UFC 195.
Bobby Green (23-6) has been out of competition since November of 2014 following multiple injuries. Green last fought at UFC Fight Night 57 where he dropped a unanimous decision to Edson Barboza. Prior to that, Green was on an eight-fight win streak which included wins over the likes of Josh Thomson, James Krause, and Pat Healy.
