Douglas Lima vs Chidi Njokuani set as co-headliner of Bellator 156

Douglas Lima will make his return to competition against Chidi Njokuani in the co-main event of Bellator 156, as reported by

The card will be headlined by the rematch between current bantamweight champion Marcos Galvao and former champion Eduardo Dantas, who beat Galvao via second-round knockout in 2013.

Lima (26-6) has not fought since he lost his welterweight title to Andre Koreshkov at Bellator 140 last year. Lima entered that fight after a 15-month hiatus due to knee injuries and lost a dominant unanimous decision over the course of five rounds. The loss snapped Lima’s five-fight win streak which consisted of all knockouts.

Chidi Njokuani (14-4, 1 NC) is currently on a six-fight unbeaten streak and has not lost since 2013. The Dallas-born Nigerian kickboxer has spent the significant part of his MMA career fighting for RFA where he went 5-0 with one no-contest. In January of last year, Njokuani beat Gilbert Smith in what was meant to be a title fight for the RFA welterweight belt but Njokuani missed weight. His most recent victory is a unanimous decision over Ricky Rainey at Bellator 146.

Bellator 156 takes place on June 17 at the SaveMart Center in Fresno, California.
