Demian Maia vs Carlos Condit to headline UFC on FOX 21
<p>UFC on FOX 21 now has a main event.</p>
<p>A welterweight bout between #3 ranked Demian Maia and #5 ranked Carlos Condit will headline UFC on FOX 21 in Vancouver,<a href="http://www.ufc.com/news/carlos-condit-demian-maia-to-headline-ufc-fight-night-vancouver-july-19-2016"> the UFC announced Tuesday</a>. The matchup, which has significant title implications, was originally scheduled to take place on the main card of UFC 202 in August.</p>
<p>Condit (30-9) last fought at UFC 195 in January when he faced welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in a closely contested bout that he ended up losing by split-decision. In 2014, Condit tore his ACL in the second round of his fight against Tryon Woodley which left him out of competition for over a year. In his return, he beat Thiago Alves in a fight that was stopped by the doctor in the second round.</p>
<p>Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist Demian Maia (23-6) currently rides a five-fight win streak with his latest victory being a submission win over Matt Brown at UFC 198, which was held in a soccer stadium in Curitiba, Brazil. Prior to that, Maia dominated fellow grappler Gunnar Nelson over the course of three rounds at UFC 194 en-route to a unanimous decision victory.</p>
<p>UFC on FOX 21 is set to take place at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC. Notable bouts on the card include Anthony Pettis’ featherweight debut against Charles Oliveira and Paige VanZant vs Bec Rawlings.</p>
