Carla Esparza subs in for injured Aguilar, faces Juliana Lima at UFC 197
<p>Former strawweight champion Carla Esparza will be making her return to the octagon at UFC 197 against Juliana Lima, <a href="http://www.ufc.com/news/Esparza-Returns-at-UFC-197">the UFC announced.</a></p>
<p>UFC 197 is expected to be headlined by a light-heavyweight title fight between current champion Daniel Cormier and former champion Jon Jones, <a href="http://roughcopy.com/news/jon-jones-runs-trouble-law">a bout which is in jeopardy following Jones’ recent arrest.</a> The co-main event will feature a 125-pound title fight between reigning champion Demetrious Johnson and Olympic gold-medalist Henry Cejudo.</p>
<p>After being sidelined due to injuries in 2015, Esparza (10-3) will be returning to competition for the first time since losing her belt to Joanna Jędrzejczyk last year. The former Invicta strawweight champion won the inaugural UFC strawweight title by beating Rose Namajunas via third-round submission in the TUF 20 finale. Prior to her loss against current champ Jędrzejczyk, the ‘Cookie Monster’ was on a five-fight win streak which included three finishes.</p>
<p>Juliana Lima (8-2) spent the significant part of her pre-UFC career fighting in her home country of Brazil, compiling a 6-1 record. She faced Joanna Jędrzejczyk in her debut at UFC on FOX 12 who she lost to via unanimous decision. Lima brought herself back in the win column by winning two fights in a row over Nina Ansaroff and Ericka Almeida.</p>
<p>UFC 197 will take place on April 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.</p>
