Bellator has signed 10-time Muay Thai world champion John Wayne Parr to compete under the Bellator Kickboxing banner.
Parr announced the news on his Instagram page where he posted a photo of his signed contract captioned, “It's is now 100% offical. Bellator contract now signed and ready to entertain 2017. Putting the fighters at 155lbs on notice, I'm coming for you.”
The all-time great kickboxer has competed all over the globe, amassing 94 wins with 44 knockouts in his 126-fight career. The 40-year old Australian turned pro at the young age of 16 and won his first national title just one year later.
More recently, he is 4-3 in his last six bouts, scoring TKO’s over Daniel Kerr and Mark Casserly as well as unanimous decisions against Pavlos Kaponis and Daniel Dawson. The losses are decisions to Bradley Riddell and Cosmo Alexandre as well as a TKO to Toby Smith in a fight that was stopped due to a broken orbital bone.
Parr also runs his own promotion, which he fights for six times, called Caged Muay Thai which is fighting under regular Muay Thai rules but fighters wear MMA gloves and fight in a cage instead.
He is currently scheduled for a Caged Muay Thai fight on December 3 and is expected to make his Bellator debut in 2017.
