Artem Lobov vs Chris Avila in the works for UFC 202

An interesting bout between a teammate of Conor McGregor and a teammate of Nate Diaz is reportedly in the works for UFC 202, which will be headlined by the highly-anticipated rematch between McGregor and Diaz.

Artem Lobov (11-12), who fights out of SBG Ireland alongside the featherweight champion, has faced a rough start to his UFC career going 0-2 in his first two bouts. In December, Lobov faced Ryan Hall in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter: Season 22 and came up short, losing the bout via unanimous. In his second UFC fight, “The Russian Hammer” faced Alex White at UFC Fight Night 82 and lost via unanimous decision.

A product of the Cesar Gracie Fight Team and training partner of Nate Diaz, Chris Avila (5-2) turned pro in 2014 and has yet to fight in the UFC. Avila has scored finishes in all but one of his five wins and is currently on a three-fight finish streak. In his last bout, he beat Drake Boen via TKO in the second round at GKO 6. Prior to that, he submitted Zach Zane with a rear-naked choke in the first round.

UFC 202 is set to take place on August 20 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
