Anthony Pettis announces drop to featherweight

Anthony Pettis has decided to drop down a weight class.

The former lightweight champion has suffered three straight defeats including his loss of the title to current champion Rafael Dos Anjos. Despite entering the bout as a -450 favorite, Pettis was dominated over the course of five rounds en route to a unanimous decision loss, snapping his five-fight win streak. Pettis then suffered a split-decision loss to Eddie Alvarez in what was a lackluster fight as well as a unanimous decision loss to Edson Barboza.

The move to featherweight will be the first time in his career competing in a different weight class. The 29-year old made the announcement with Instagram post which included a hashtag that read “145 in the works.”
