Anthony Johnson out of UFC on FOX 20 bout against Glover Teixeira

According to a report released by MMAFighting.com, Anthony Johnson will not be fighting at UFC on FOX 20.

Johnson (21-5), who is currently #2 on the UFC’s official light-heavyweight rankings, was originally scheduled to face #3 ranked Glover Teixeira in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 20 in Chicago but has withdrawn from the bout for undisclosed reasons. The former title challenger is 5-1 as a UFC light-heavyweight with all but one of his five wins coming by way of knockout. His most recent bout was a sub 90-second knockout victory over Ryan Bader in January.

Teixeira (25-4) is on a three-fight win streak and is coming off a first-round knockout win against Rashad Evans in the main event of UFC on FOX 19. In his post-fight interview, Teixeira called out Anthony Johnson with the hopes that a win over him would cement his case for a title shot but, now that the fight is off, he said he is willing to face anyone to stay on the card.

"I’d rather stay on the card," Teixeira told MMA Fighting. "I’m prepared, and I spent a lot of money bringing guys from Brazil to help me. For sure, I’d like to stay on the card.

"Ed (Soares) is talking to Joe Silva. I don’t care. Anyone. I’m not the type of fighter to call someone out. I challenged Anthony Johnson because he was going to wait, and he’s the No. 1 contender. That fight made a lot of sense to me because a win would get me next to a title shot. I’d be the next in line. I don’t have much choice now. Bring anyone."
