Anastasia Yankova returns against Veta Arteaga at Bellator 161
<p>Russian Muay Thai champion Anastasia Yankova will make her US debut against Veta Arteaga at Bellator 161, the <a href="http://bellator.spike.com/articles/26o724/anastasia-yankova-set-for-u-s-fighting-debut-during-main-card-of-bellator-161">promotion announced Thursday.</a></p>
<p>Yankova (3-0) made her MMA debut in Russia against Eleonora Tassinari in 2013 and won the bout with a submission in the second round. She went on to rack up another submission win before signing with Bellator. The 9-2 kickboxer opted not to sign with the UFC after <a href="http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2016/1/27/10840514/russian-muay-thai-champion-explains-why-she-signed-with-bellator">saying</a> ,"UFC does not allow you to fight anywhere else, and it is important for me to box, even in Russia.” She made her Bellator debut in Italy against Anjela Pink who she also submitted, extending her professional MMA record to 3-0 with all victories coming by way of submission.</p>
<p>Her opponent, Veta Arteaga (2-0) is unbeaten in her two pro fights with both victories coming by way of decision. In her most recent bout, she beat Jackie Vandenburgh at Bellator 155.</p>
<p>Bellator 161 will be headlined by heavyweights Cheick Kongo and Tony Johnson at the HEB Center in Cedar Park, Texas. The event will take place on September 16 and will air live on Spike.</p>
