AJ McKee vs Brandon Phillips added to Bellator 171

21-year-old prospect AJ McKee will be facing Brandon Phillips at Bellator 171 later this month.

The bout was announced by Bellator on Thursday and will take place on the main card. The event will be held at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas on January 27 headlined by a 175-lb catchweight bout between Melvin Guillard and Chidi Njokuani.

McKee (6-0) is coming off of the first decision win of his career over Ray Wood at Bellator 166 in December. Prior to that, he submitted Cody Walker with a guillotine early in the second round of their bout in August. Four of McKee’s five stoppage victories have come in the first round.

Phillips (6-2) is coming off of a submission loss to Bryce Mitchell at WSOF 33, making him 1-2 in his last three fights. He suffered his first professional loss to Wood in April last year but bounced back with a decision win over Chuka Willis in July.
